Today is a perfect example of the contrast between new me and old me. This is a pretty big day, both in terms of being out of the house, and being a potentially emotionally meaningful day. Either would have presented a challenge to keeping up with a weight loss program.
A busy day, running across town, eating out not just once but twice. Perfect excuse to skip my workout. I got to bed late, so naturally I wanted to sleep late as well. But doing so meant I would have had no time before we left to work out, and once we left we weren't home until after midnight. It was important to work out before I left or it just wasn't going to happen.
As for the meaningful part, well, this is my weight loss blog and not my personal blog so I'll withhold the details, but suffice to say that it's the kind of thing that doesn't want me to focus on something else. Trying to clear my head to get anything done is not impossible, but difficult. And it would have been much easier to stay in bed and think through the entire day.
I'm proud that I dragged myself out of bed and not only got on the treadmill, but lifted weights as planned. It probably helped me cope with the rest of the day and helped me stay relaxed and enjoyed myself. And it proves to me that I can still have a busy day and find time to do what I need to do.
