The last two days have been pretty heavy on the info, so tonight is probably a good opportunity to relax a bit. Another day on the treadmill, somewhat more difficult than other days but I'm still not struggling to finish the workout by any stretch of the imagination. Tomorrow I'm scheduled to start another fast and do some more weight lifting, but the holiday presents an opportunity to spend some time with some special people in my life. Flexibility comes in darn handy on those days and I'm going to push my fast back by a day so that I can enjoy the social benefits of having a meal together. I'm still hoping to move some dumbbells though, we'll see if time allows.

The good news today comes in the form of an expected but forgotten source of happiness: fitting into my old jeans. Looking at my wardrobe to see what I could wear in terms of jeans, I was distressed to see that I was down to a single pair of jeans that is very close to becoming a pair of cutoffs, intentionally or not. My sweetheart pointed out that I did have some older jeans in an unused dresser drawer that I might be able to fit into now.

For a number of years I've been wearing 38 inch waist jeans. When I did boot camp a couple years ago now, which I think I ended at 210 pounds or 8 pounds less than I am now, I was able to get back into my old 36 pairs, and my 34 jeans were wearable but not comfortably. Putting on twenty or so pounds after that, I was back up to the upper end of my 38 "loose fit" jeans.

Digging into my old stash I was able to comfortably put on my 38 "normal fit" jeans, and I also tried on a pair of 36 jeans and I'm happy to say that I can wear them fairly comfortably, although spending an entire day in them would probably result in me popping the button and sighing loudly. I was even able to squeeze into a pair of 34 jeans but it was really a struggle to just close the button. That's okay, I'm only at maybe 20-25% of my total weight loss.

My memories of wearing a 32 inch waist are pretty distant and I vaguely recall having a 30 inch waist back in the days when I first started buying my own clothes. Prior to that, mom was the only one who knew what I could and couldn't wear. I'm sure at some point I wore 28 or less but we're stretching pretty far back and I'm not entirely sure that would be completely healthy for me to aspire to. Honestly, I would be very happy to just get back into a 32, and I suspect that if my weight loss goes according to plan I might get into a 30. I might go lower, but only out of necessity and not some obsession to hit a magic number.
