First off, let me say the drop in weight was really startling. Almost two and a half pounds overnight. Since I'm fairly certain I didn't burn 8500 calories yesterday, especially pushing my weight lifting back, I was pretty shocked when I looked at the scale today. I was hoping I might finally break into the two-teens, but bypassing 219 and 218 was not what I was prepared for. My suspicion is that tomorrow I might mysteriously gain some of this weight back. I wouldn't mind being wrong about that fourth prediction.

You might notice that the photos look a little different. The center (side) picture in particular, you may notice the folds in the curtain behind me are at an angle. No, there wasn't a strong wind; I decided to start fixing the pictures a bit to better perform image comparisons.

I've been relying heavily on setting up the camera in the same position every day, lining up the viewfinder on the same marks, standing in exactly the same place, using the same crop settings, etc. Ultimately, it's difficult, if not possible to maintain that consistency from day to day and the end result is that when viewed as a movie, the images jump all over the place. Haven't made a movie (yet), but it's especially noticable in the day 3 picture that I use to compare my total visual progress on.

To correct this issue I'm starting to rotate the pictures so that in the front, my belly button and center of my eyes align, and in the back, the top of my head with my buttcheeks. To the side especially it's pretty extreme as the only good points of reference that I have are my ears and the center of my calves, so it looks like I'm leaning back. After doing this, I can use a center line when I crop the photos. Even if my extremities are sticking out unevenly that day, my center of mass will always be fixed in the center of the image.

I went ahead and redid day 3 as well as day 29 to see some comparison shots and I think I'm going to continue this practice from here on forward. Eventually I'll go back and redo days 4 through 28 which need some other updates as well.

If the images don't line up properly in your browser, they might be cached. You should be able to reload the page, including all images, by holding down the shift key and pressing the Refresh button.

Having done this I can go back and make a more critical comparison to my starting photos. First off, day 3 appears to be a bit off, unless my head shrunk in the following days. I may go back and use a different starting image from when I finally got the camera distance worked out. So keep that in mind when you compare images: the starting image really is bigger in all dimensions. That's not a before and after trick, it's really just me screwing up.

Camera distance aside though, I was kind of blown away by the changes. Tomorrow is my one month post, so I'm going to go over all the changes then, but you can see them for yourself now.
